Position Description
The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Teacher is responsible for all aspects of planning, assessing and instructing 4-year olds, based on needs of each child, and the requirements of the GSRP grant. The teacher is also responsible for maintaining program quality and documentation as outlined in the GSRP Implementation Manual, Classroom Coach Assessment, and DHHS licensing guidelines.
Position Responsibilities
-Implement developmentally-appropriate instruction for children using research-based curriculum.
-Follow the daily schedule as outlined in the curriculum and GSRP guidelines
-Conduct screening and ongoing assessment of children and provide age-appropriate instructional support
-Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers and exhibits of children’s work.
-Meet with Early Childhood Specialist as needed to ensure quality programming and maintain a high-level Classroom Coach rating
-Attend staff meetings, workshops, and other scheduled program activities as requested -Assist in the orientation and training of associate teachers
-Consider the associate teacher an essential member of the teaching team
-Collaborate with the associate teacher in planning, team meetings, troubleshooting, and decision-making
-Empower the associate teacher to monitor behavior and support the educational process in the classroom
-Participate in home visits with associate teacher to partner with parents to meet the educational needs of their children. Conducts 2 home visits per year for each child in class
-Organize and maintain records for grant and licensing purposes
-Create and update anecdotal records and portfolios for each child
-Assess needs of families and assists with follow up.
-Other tasks as assigned
Position Qualifications
Either degree is accepted:
-A valid Michigan teaching certificate and an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood-General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement, Birth-K, or PK-3 endorsement; or
-A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development with a specialization in preschool teaching.
-Preschool experience, especially with the Creative Curriculum, is preferred
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Criminal background clearance and DHHS clearance
-Negative TB test

The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Associate Teacher is responsible for assisting the Lead Teacher in developing and implementing a program of activities that promotes the social, emotional and physical development of each child enrolled in accordance to the requirements of the GSRP grant. The duties and responsibilities will be carried out under the direction of the Lead Teacher.
Position Responsibilities
-Assist Lead Teacher in implement developmentally-appropriate instruction for children using research-based curriculum
-Follow the daily schedule as outlined in the curriculum and GSRP guidelines
-Conduct screening and ongoing assessment of children and provide age-appropriate instructional support

-Attend staff meetings, workshops, and other scheduled program activities as requested
-Work with individual and small groups of students
-Collaborate with the lead teacher in planning, team meetings, troubleshooting, and decision-making
-Assist with monitoring behavior and support the educational process in the classroom
-Participate in home visits with lead teacher to partner with parents to meet the educational needs of their children
-Organize and maintain records for grant and licensing purposes
-Create and update anecdotal records and portfolios for each child
Position Qualifications

-An associate’s degree in early childhood education or child development or the equivalent;
-A valid classroom CDA credential; or
-An existing 120 Hour approval.
